This is either a hypertropic scar or keloid. Both arise due to over-expression of TGF-beta.

curbstep If it is then would Tumor Necrosis Factor be valid answer as TNF-a is involved in granuloma formation? +

azibird Because it specifically asks which subsgtance THAT PROMOTES FIBROBLAST MIGRATION AND PROLIFRERATION. I believe both TGF-b and TNF-a would be involved, but only TGF-b has this effect of fibroblasts. +2

unknown001 this is foreign body granuloma. look at the question . "Wwhich of the ff promote fibroblst migration and prolif. ? " does TNF do that ? NO. does TGF B do that ? YES +

yb_26 because they mention scattered fragments of foreign material (pt presents 2 months after c-section, sutures are either removed in 1 week or dissolve in few weeks (depends on type of suture material) +

suckitnbme I think it IS a foreign body granuloma. The sutures are supposed to be removed or dissolve but sometimes one gets left in. The question says foreign material and sutures are often polarizable. +5
