I got confused with hypercalcemia but I realized now it causes acute pancreatitis not cancer.

Causes: I GET SMASHED

  • Idiopathic
  • Gallstones
  • Ethanol
  • Trauma
  • Steroids
  • Mumps
  • Autoimmune disease
  • Scorpion stings
  • Hypercalcemia/Hypertriglyceridemia (>1000 mg/L) (primary hyperparathyroidism)
  • ERCP
  • Drugs (such as sulfa drugs, NRTIs, protease inhibitors)

Drugs that cause pancreatitis: Drugs Causing A Violent Abdominal Distress

  • Didanosine (NRTIs)
  • Corticosteroids
  • Alcohol
  • Valproic acid
  • Azathioprine
  • Diuretics (loop diuretics like furosemide and thiazide diuretics like HCTZ)
