ANP & BNP

BNP is produced by the ventricles in response to mechanical distension and stimulation by angiotensin II, endothelin, and catecholamines. It opposes the RAAS by promoting vasodilation, natriuresis, diuresis, and decreased renin production.

The way to think about it (in my opinion) is that places in the body (in the atria for ANP and in the brain ventricles for BNP) are experiencing too much blood volume and so they need to reduce the volume by common methods: dilating blood vessels, increasing peeing, and decreasing RAAS.
