cheesetouchFA18 p 576 mentions AGMA causes include methanol. It also mentions formic acid. Formic acid is VERY structurally similar to acetone (a chemical in paint thinner and nail polish remover). [Sorry this isn't a great answer, but it's a thought...]+1

I believe that the question is suggesting the patient has a methanol overdose.
First Aid 2018 page 72: "FOMEpizoleโinhibits alcohol dehydrogenase and is an antidote For Overdoses of Methanol or Ethylene glycol."
The reason I am unsure is that wikipedia states most paint thinners are ketones or hydrocarbons
