Patient with small cell lung cancer develops hyponatremia = SIADH until proven otherwise (basically confirmed with a urine osmolality > 100 and urine sodium > 40)
Mild hyponatremia symptomsย (sodium>120, lethargy/forgetfulness): Fluid restriction +/- salt tablets
Severe hyponatremia symptomsย (sodium<120, seizures, coma): Hypertonic (3%) saline
madojoHe's not really symptomatic "mild nonproductive cough but is otherwise feeling." Why wouldnt you give demeclocycline to treat the SIADH. +
notyasupreme@madojo, I agree.. I put the same answer as you, but I guess fluid restriction is the FIRST line treatment of all.. Lol, these Anki that give you all three (+conivaptan) never tell you which is the right one in these cases.+
beans123demeclocycline is neurotoxic, UW says only to use it if salt tablets and fluid restriction fail+
