Albuterol: short-acting beta agonist (activates B2 causing bronchodilation), used during acute exacerbation.

Beclomethasone: Inhaled corticosteroid (inhibit the synthesis of virtually all cytokines), 1st line therapy for chronic asthma.

Cromolyn sodium: Mast cell stabilizer (prevent the release of inflammatory mediators from mast cells), used for prevention of bronchospasm, not acute bronchodilation. Rarely used.

Diphenhydramine: Reversible Histamine-1 blocker, used for allergy, motion sickness, sleep aid.

Zafirlukast: Antileukotriene (block leukotriene receptors CysLT1. Especially good for aspirin-induced and excercise-induced asthma.
