Carbamazepine is a notorious CYP450 inducer, so you should be guessing metabolism no matter what. CYP450 plays an important role in both vitamin D bioactivation and degradation in the liver.

mariame  Just to add: Vitamin D signal transduction system involves a series of cytochrome P450-containing sterol hydroxylases to generate and degrade the active hormone, 1ฮฑ,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. +1

I get the P450 point, got it wrong bc anti-epileptic drugs such as carbamazepine and phenytoin decreases folate absorption, but maybe it is a different mechanism with vitamin D
